“Sistah Girl”

No one gave me permission to speak for all men
But then again, I didn’t ask
I just think an apology’s due to all women
So I willingly take up the task

There’s something hereditary found in all boys
That grows in them as they get taller
It’s kind of like getting and playing with toys
Each one of us thinks he’s a baller

The relationship starts and things are real cool
And we honestly mean you no harm
But when you get too cozy we start acting a fool
And fear replaces our charm

But the fear is misplaced if we’re frightened of you
You’re a victim of love’s circumstances
Don’t give up on all men just because of a few
Some brothas deserve second chances

What I started to say when I picked up my pen
And this little poem got so long-winded
On behalf of all men whose hearts have been changed
We are sorry to all we’ve offended

It’s the least we can do as the born again crew
That love Jesus, who died for the world
We will not neglect you, but serve and protect you
‘Cause in Christ you my “Sistah Girl”!
