PASTOR WHALUM ROCKS THE TOM JOYNER SHOW-
September 13, 2002

In 2002, Pastor Kenneth T. Whalum, Jr. of The New Olivet Baptist Church presented to the nationally-syndicated radio talk show host Tom Joyner, a check for $5,000 supporting the Tom Joyner Foundation which makes funds available for students to further their education at Historical Black Colleges and Universities.

Pastor Whalum also encouraged support of Memphis businesses by introducing the Tom Joyner Show audience to BUST-A-MOVE-MONDAY, an effort originating from The New Olivet Baptist Church to support local black owned businesses by encouraging EVERYONE in the city to support a designated business the 1st Monday of every month.  This effort has seen tremendous results, and recently has become the focus of local, AND national media as word is exposed of the OIL OLIVE being spread all over this city.

This initiative will be further amplified, taught, and explained as the 3rd annual BUST-A-MOVE Conference will be held this November at The New Olivet Baptist Church.  CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS .
